URGENT! Say NO to the Save Act (AGAIN!!)

This is a repeat action. Even if you did it before, please do it again because this terrible bill is closer than ever to being passed.

The SAVE Act is an extreme voter suppression bill. If passed, most Americans would be unable to register to vote using their driver's license or other state-provided identification alone. It is estimated that 21 million American citizens lack the documents that would be required to register to vote. The SAVE Act will especially burden young people, who would face hurdles that already-registered citizens do not face, and married women, who often change their names and will therefore no longer be able to use their birth certificates to register. The SAVE Act isn’t necessary—it’s already illegal to vote if you’re not a citizen. The real purpose of this legislation is to undermine the electoral process.

Tell your Democratic Senators to be more like Cory

Cory Booker's 25-hour speech on the Senate floor was inspirational and should serve as an example of the kinds of bold actions we expect from other Democratic leaders. Give your Democratic senators a nudge. Find contact info for your senators here.

Senator Booker's marathon speech last week was awesome! This is the kind of energy and determination we want to see from every Democratic Senator. Republicans are tearing our country apart and shredding our Constitution. We need more bold moves like Booker’s from the Democrats. Thanks.

Tell your Republican Senators that their "magic math" regarding the budget proposal is despicable

Republicans are now claiming that making the tax cuts for the rich permanent, which will cost $4.6 trillion over the next 10 years, actually won't cost anything because it's just an extension of the current state. This is just a gimmick to get around parliamentarian rules. Read more here and here.

I know Senate Republicans are about to introduce their new budget resolution, and that they are going to great lengths to hide the fact that it will cut Medicaid and SNAP and blow up the deficit to give tax cuts to rich people. I want the Senator to know that I see exactly what they’re doing, and I am outraged. Republicans want to take food away from children and deny health care to those who need it most so that billionaires can get even richer—it’s disgusting. I expect the Senator to stand up for their constituents, not Trump’s billionaire friends, and vote no on this budget. Thanks.

Demand that Congress retain the ban on cancer-causing chemical TCE

In December 2024, the Environmental Protection Agency banned trichloroethylene (TCE), a chemical used for dry cleaning, manufacturing, and degreasing machines that can cause devastating and grave illnesses - including cancer, organ damage, Parkinson’s and heart defects in babies. ProPublica reports that the ban is “vulnerable to being overturned through the Congressional Review Act because it was issued shortly before the inauguration.” Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) and Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) and Diana Harshbarger (R-TN) have introduced resolutions to repeal the ban on TCE. Let’s tell our Members of Congress to oppose S.J.Res.19 and H.J.Res.34 and H.J.Res.27, and to file legislation that would uphold and instate the ban on TCE.
