Provide unconditional federal disaster aid to California for the LA fires

Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress are exploiting yet another climate disaster to spread disinformation and sow chaos for political points. As hundreds of thousands of Californians faced evacuation warnings, and tens of thousands have lost their homes and entire communities, Trump, Musk, and his MAGA loyalists in Congress are spreading lies and attacking those who are actually working to address the crisis. Using these lies as an excuse, some Republicans in Congress are threatening to withhold aid to California unless there are "strings" attached.

Let's send a message to our House Representative urging them to make sure California gets the federal aid they need without delay and certainly without conditions. Find contact info for your House representative here. Write your own or use the following scripts:

If your House Rep is a Democrat:

I understand that some members of Congress are talking about withholding federal aid for California unless certain strings are attached or it’s linked to a debt ceiling increase. This is immoral and repugnant. California is literally subsidizing the rest of the United States, red states in particular, through the federal budget. In 2022, the most recent year for which information is available, it paid $83 billion more to the federal government than it got back. How dare anyone withhold funds from them in their moment of need, or tie that aid to anything? Please get California the help it needs now with no strings attached and publicly shame your Republican colleagues by forcefully calling out their lies and hypocrisy.

If your House Rep is a Republican:

I’m deeply concerned and angered by Republican threats to withhold federal aid for California unless certain strings are attached or it’s linked to a debt ceiling increase. Give California what they need with no strings attached and stop with the lies and disinformation. It's irresponsible and hurtful to Californians who are still in grave danger. I am sickened by Republican politicians trying to use this tragedy to score political points.

Action from Indivisible: Block the confirmation of Hegseth, Patel, Vought, and Kennedy

While Trump has nominated dozens of despicable individuals for his cabinet, Indivisible is currently focused on the 4 they believe to be the most dangerous—Pete Hegseth for Department of Defense, Kash Patel for Department of Justice, Russell Vought for Office of Management and Budget, and Robert Kennedy Jr. for Health and Human Services. These confirmations are so critical that we need to continue to flood our Senators inboxes with messages.

Click below for background on each of these nominees and to submit pre-scripted letters (one for each nominee) to your Senators. Just fill in your name, email, and address and hit send.

Action from the ACLU: No Mass Deportations

Trump and his cronies have laid out their plans to use the resources of the government to perpetuate the mass arrest, detentions, and deportations of our community members and tear apart families. These policies are inhumane – and one way Trump will aim to make them happen is by supercharging the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Let's tell Congress to cut funding to DHS immigration enforcement and prevent Trump from having access to the resources he needs to carry out his mass deportation plans.

Follow the link below to send a pre-scripted message to your Members of Congress (based on your address).
